A small fishing town situated far above the polar circle. It’s beautifully situated in a small bay, in which the locals fish for wild salmon and king crabs. This town is one of the global main hubs that sell these king crabs to Michelin star restaurants around the world. I’ve had the pleasure to enjoy a fresh salmon in the local restaurant, made by the only chef in a 200km vicinity.
With this picture I aimed to capture the desolate landscape present around the town so far up north. The long, cold, windy roads heading towards the town are all covered in sheets of ice, demanding careful driving of any brave soul attempting to get here. Temperatures in February reach a brisky average of -7 degrees celsius, cold enough for the ocean to freeze if the temperatures are persistently low for a long period.
